Our disease of focus this year is pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease characterized by scarring in patients' lungs. The progression of damage in lung tissue makes it hard for those with the disease to expand their lungs and get enough oxygen to their body. Pulmonary fibrosis affects approximately 3 million people worldwide. Pulmonary fibrosis is currently incurable, with a life expectancy of 3-5 years, but this estimate is increasing as newer medicines and treatments progress, with some reporting life expectancies of 10+ years. This especially highlights the necessity of continued support in pulmonary fibrosis research. If you are able, please donate to our fundraiser to support the advancement of pulmonary fibrosis research with the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
